i've worked alongside the garlond ironworks, the sons of saint coinach, and have studied all that is to be known yet never shared from old sharlayan. it may seem impossible for a vii as myself that hails from golmore jungle... but worry not. though my blood is of my previous tribe, i am but a scholar at heart. i yearn for mysteries that have yet to be discovered. especially that of allag and garlean tech.

many of my works require time and essence. built upon the precipice of knowledge and innate nature, a miracle was bestowed upon the working hands of a hardworking scholar. and such like many others, i became known for many of my inventions. well, maybe just a few... but trust me when i say i am certified. i've gained recognition all throughout eorzea from my enthusiasm for technological advances.

there within the golmore jungle lived a young vii who found himself yearning of what lies outside of the jungle. through all his might, he had left his home during one of the many days of training to seek out the world beyond trees and vines. but what was left of the young boy to his tribe? nothing. after several long days and nights, the vii was presumed dead, designated as far too weak to become a protector of his home. he knows naught of what would become of the jungle, the tribe he hailed from, as he was far too astounded by the view before him.

the vibrant skies, the beautiful flora, the eye-catching fauna, the agriculture that runs through its fields like a wave crashing against a pier from the wind alone. oh, and the smell of the sea. this was all new and exciting… but not enough for the vii. having been on his own for months, he’d accumulate different skills for his survival and finances. from hunting to farming, he’d gain a small fortune that would assist him for future endeavors. and what would that be, you ask? the young vii, now having reached the adulthood that his kind considers maturity, would go on to explore what is to be seen as he felt a quench for mysteries. something he has yet to uncover.

from horseback to ships, he’d find himself in wanderlust for what he’d find out in the world. he’d have seen many things, but nothing that would pique the interest he craves to consume. and when the boat docks, there would be more for him to learn and prosper. what he had not realized due to his own ignorance was that the man had embarked on a journey to become the scholar he is today, the inventor he had not realized he would turn out to be, and… the realization of what little aether he embodied.

 
you might have heard of sylas… or not. he is not a very well-known man, however, the scholar tends to make himself known from presence and inventions alone. whether you know him or not, he will find a way to make a grand opening of himself to you.

like many other intelligent fools, sylas has the tendency to ignore any and all suggestions given to him as the vii would work on his own, entirely full of himself with how much tinkering he’s committed his time to. he’s an arrogant man, yet, he still desires to impress others with his work.

 
no matter how long it takes, sylas will go out if his way to uncover the truths and mysteries eorzea holds before him. when there is a sliver of a clue, he will go above and beyond to uncover the meaning behind what he had discovered.

no matter how enthralled the man is to his work and his thirst for eorzea’s mysteries, sylas is not immune to flattery. if anything, it’d make his heart race, make him trip over his words, and his face would turn ever so red if someone had given him such sweet attention… whether romantically or… something much more intimate.
